MetaGovernance was founded by practitioners who spent decades inside the very environments we now serve — mortgage, treasury, liquidity, collateral, derivatives, regulatory reporting, and enterprise data governance. Across countless data‑intensive initiatives — warehouse builds, system replacements, governance programs, and large‑scale implementations — we saw the same pattern repeat.
Controls were always the difference between accurate data and operational risk. And every time, teams ended up rebuilding those controls from scratch: reconciling sources, validating transformations, stitching together lineage, and creating evidence for auditors and regulators. It was essential work, but it was manual, fragile, and endlessly duplicated
From that experience, we recognized the opportunity: a platform that automates reconciliation, operationalizes governance metadata, and extends control to data sources that traditional governance never reaches. MetaGovernance was built to turn that repetitive, high‑stakes work into a scalable, provable system — one that ensures data is right at the source and stays right everywhere it flows.

Our Team
Our team has held senior leadership and specialist roles across the financial sector — including CIO, Controller, Risk Management Data Specialist, Director of Data Governance & Reporting, Application & Delivery Manager, Enterprise Architect, Business Process Manager, and Project Manager. We’ve also worked extensively with internal and external auditors across major financial institutions, giving us a deep understanding of the controls, evidence, and defensibility those environments demand.
MetaGovernance was founded by Steve Zagoudis, a governance architect and recognized authority in data governance, information governance, and data risk management. A veteran advisor to multinational corporations and government‑sponsored enterprises, Steve has spent more than 25 years helping organizations solve their most critical data challenges.
His background spans business operations, IT, and governance, with leadership roles and project work at Standard Oil, BP Worldwide, Sequent, IBM, Goldman Sachs, and the Federal Home Loan Banks. Throughout his career, Steve has championed the role of governance controls — especially in environments that rely heavily on spreadsheets, end‑user computing, and manual reconciliations for financial disclosure.
Across industries, he has helped organizations improve data accuracy and integrity while reducing operational, compliance, and reputational risk. That philosophy is embedded in MetaGovernance’s platform and approach today.
